I used black-and-white medium-weight acrylic yarn that I had laying around the Apartment. With a size K hook, the puff turned out to be about the same size as the nylon puff I bought for 1$ at the grocery store. It was really easy to do and I finished it in two sittings.
It looks really good! So, this morning, I decided to try it out in the shower.
The Verdict:
It was effective. It got a little heavy once it was wet, and it lathered about as well as a traditional washcloth, but it worked. I wonder if it might be one of those things that needs to be broken in. It seems like it would lather better if it was not so densely put together. It also occurred to me that it would be a really good water toy (the kind you toss in a bucket, then throw at your nearest enemy) if I stopped at the second round (so it was smaller). So maybe that's what I'll do. Turn my bath puff into water toys for the little cousins at the next family get-together.
I used a pattern I found at the Crochet Spot, which you can also find here:)
